Grinkle Park is an outstanding 20 en suite bedroomed hotel nestled in the foothills between Whitby and the great moors of North Yorkshire. It has the comfort and character of a Victorian shooting lodge with excellent cuisine and cellar associated with a house of such quality. The feeling of a family home with blazing fires in the winter and a large local clientele to add to its always welcoming surroundings. A very special and individual place to hold parties wedding and functions. Wildlife is abundant Spring brings swathes of daffodils huge avenues of Rhododendrons and sweet scented azaleas the peacocks strut down sloping walks shadowed by ancient trees whilst the visitor may enjoy all this plus tennis croquet and billiards for the adventurous there is far more long walks on the moors discovering the historic market towns the castles and churches of Whitby and York. The winding streets of Staithes the racing at Redcar Thirsk Ripon and Wetherby salmon and trout fishing on the Esk Golf at testing local courses evenings at the Theatre at Scarborough and Darlington and a multitude of other pleasures can be had by staying at Grinkle Park Hotel.
The Belford is owned by Colin and Vivienne Gilholm. The golf course itself was designed by Nigel W Williams and opened in 1993. It is a nine-hole parkland course suitable for both low and high handicappers, 6304 yards SS72 for gents and 5844 yards SS74 for ladies. Visitors have the option of playing 9 or 18 holes, or an all day ticket. It has hosted Northumberland Ladies County events but equally welcomes newcomers to the game. The course is situated alongside the A1, midway between the market towns of Alnwick and Berwick, turn off towards Belford at the grain silos to reach it. (SEE MAP). Overlooked by the magnificent 18th century Belford Hall, it in turn has panoramic views over the North Sea nature reserve of Lindisfarne and Holy Island. We have one motorised cart for hire. As many visitors are unable to pack their own clubs we also have club hire either for the course or for the driving range. Visiting parties are also well catered for in our pleasant clubhouse, please book in advance. Facilities include, a well stocked bar, snacks and main meals of a high quality, changing rooms and showers.
